Fulgores do Rio
The Mira River is alive and runs through us. The invitation for our time together is to trace the Mira River following the river's songlines from the estuary in Vila Nova de Milfontes, through flood plain, to wetland and marshes, to the town of Odemira. Thinking about and with water and their many forms of agency, in the third edition of fulgores do rio we will meet the waters of the Loire, the Danube, the Guadiana, the Euphrates, the Tigris, and the Douro. The screenings will be preceded by a convivial dinner, which requires reservation. To the serpentine, subterranean and sidereal rivers! The Art Space Residency
🎨🖌️🫟 THE ART SPACE RESIDENCY 🎨🖌️🫟 Come for one day of creation, a couple of days or the whole package! Thirteen days. Nine artists. One house in the Alentejo, and everything made in it stays on the walls From 15 to 27 August, the Art Space Hotel becomes a place where something is created every single day. A different artist arrives each morning and leads a workshop in their own craft: artstone, a collective painting which will be the table cloth, collage, cork and wood, driftwood, meditative drawing, movement. You do not book the whole two weeks. You book the days that call you, one at a time. No experience is needed anywhere in the programme, and most people who come have never called themselves artists. What you make does not go home with you that evening. It stays in the house for the rest of the programme, so the rooms hold more work every day, until the Open House on 27 August when it all hangs together. Didgeridoo Festival — FATT 2026 returns August 27–30 for its 17th edition From August 27 to 30, 2026, Ribeira do Ruivo, in São Teotónio, Odemira, will once again host the Didgeridoo Festival — FATT 2026, an event dedicated to music, nature, art, sharing, and community life. In its 17th edition, FATT will once again bring together artists, participants, families, musicians, artisans, and lovers of alternative culture for four days of concerts, workshops, lectures, jam sessions, activities, and moments of connection with nature. More than just a festival, FATT is an experience of coming together and slowing down, where the audience is invited to dance, learn, share, and experience the true community spirit that has defined this event since its inception. In 2026, for the first time in the festival’s history, FATT will also feature afternoon concerts, expanding the musical lineup and creating new moments of celebration throughout the day. The musical lineup will feature 11 concerts, bringing together national and international artists associated with the didgeridoo, as well as acoustic, traditional, organic, and experimental music. Open Art Space
Since August 15th, artists, musicians, healers and holistic practitioners have been gathering at the Art Space Hotel in Odemira for the pilot edition of the Art Space Residency. What began as an empty space has slowly transformed into a living space filled with art, memories, music, connection and love. Together, we created an altar, a collective painting, the womb of the space, and planted seeds that are now blossoming through gatherings, songs, dances, photography and countless creative expressions. We have explored beauty, connection and the deeper essence of what it means to create together. And now, the journey continues. ✨ On August 27th, we open the doors to the Open Art Space. On Monday June 29, we gather close to where the Mira River and the Atlantic Ocean meet for a guided Stone Circle Ceremony under the full moon. At the centre of our gathering lies a Crystal Stone Circle: a contemporary ceremonial field inspired by the ancient wisdom of stone circles: sacred patterns that connect earth, sky, direction, rhythm and human awareness. As we attune to this field through stillness, sound, breath and attention, space opens for reflection, inner listening and intuitive guidance. Lula Pena - At the Temporary School for Nothing
On September 12, at 9:30 p.m., Lula Pena will perform at Moagem de Sabóia (Casa do Morgado), at the invitation of Escola Provisória Para Nada. A singer, guitarist, songwriter, and performer, Lula Pena has developed a unique musical language that spans different traditions of popular song, languages, and geographies. Combining her own compositions, poetry, and repertoires from diverse origins, her music moves freely between fado and other musical traditions, seeking what she calls a “tradition on a universal scale.” The concert is part of the program for the Escola Provisória Para Nada — Encontros P(o)pedagógicos, taking place in Sabóia from September 4 to 13. Once the nervous system has a little more ground under it, we go into the body directly - the jaw and the pelvic floor, two of the places women most commonly hold tension, worked together in one session. "Don't lose the thread" with Karmit!!! A study group taking place on September 3, 10, and 17 at Espaço Nativa. Admission is free. In modern times, wool—this precious material—is being overlooked. Here in the Alentejo, some of the sheep’s wool also ends up in the trash. Over the past 15 years, Karmit has been learning and sharing this ancestral knowledge about wool. “For me, wool is a way to awaken, remember, and connect.” You’re invited to join us and, together, preserve these precious fibers. Karmit will be here for two sessions, during which we’ll learn: *the process of cleaning raw sheep’s wool *processing and carding the wool. *spinning with a spindle and spinning wheel.
