    🔸A course to learn more about medieval Sines The Sines Municipal Archives is organizing, on July 8 (Wednesday) at 3:00 p.m., at the Sines Arts Center, its sixth Open Course on Local History, as part of the celebrations marking the 29th anniversary of Sines’ elevation to city status. This year, we will discuss medieval urban planning in Sines with Dr. Luísa Trindade, who will present the lecture “Sines: A Paradigmatic Case in the Context of Medieval Portuguese Urban Planning.” The course methodology combines a more theoretical perspective with a more practical one, encouraging participation from those interested.     Presentation of the 2nd edition of the Sines Municipal Archives Guide

    Cas - Cafeteria | 5:00 p.m. June 9 marks International Archives Day, a date established by the General Assembly of the International Council on Archives in 2007. On this date, the Sines Municipal Archives will present the second edition of its guide, a resource designed to publicize the documents in its care, the available information, and the conditions for access. The guide will be available at the Sines Arts Center and on the Sines City Council website.

    “Between Cape Sardão and Cape Roca”

    📚 Maria da Luz Correia, researcher and representative of the Pátio das Memórias do Alentejo Litoral Association, will present her book “Between Cape Sardão and Cape Roca: Fishing and Daily Life (1927–1958), in the Diaries of ‘Mano Mário,’ a Fisherman from the Alentejo Coast” on May 28 (Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. at the Sines Municipal Library. The session, part of the celebration of National Fisherman’s Day, will feature the participation of historians João Madeira (Institute of Contemporary History, FCSH – New University of Lisbon) and Francisco Silva (Almada Archaeology Center). The session will be moderated by Sandra Patrício, head of the Sines Municipal Archives, for an afternoon of learning and reflection on the maritime heritage and coastal cultures of the Alentejo.

    The Municipal Archive is living proof of a town's autonomy and history. Sines became a town in 1362 and had its municipality delimited in 1364. Come and visit the space in the Sines Arts Center where the memory of Sines is kept. The new edition of the Sines Municipal Archive Guide will be presented.
