Xxx Historical Journey to Santiago do Cacém October 4th and 5th It was in the fall (October) of 1895 that Portugal received its first automobile. It was a Panhard & Levassour that had been bought in Paris by a young Count and visionary from Santiago do Cacém by the name of Jorge de Avillez. The reception for the Panhard in Santiago do Cacém was a mixture of fear, amazement, curiosity and admiration, which led to the typical first nickname given to the "thing" - GASOLINAS. 130 years on from this feat, the Clube de Automóveis Antigos da Costa Azul, with the support of Santiago do Cacém Town Council and the Junta de Freguesia da União de Freguesias de Santiago do Cacém, Santa Cruz e São Bartolomeu da Serra, will be staging the traditional re-enactment of this remarkable journey. As part of the celebration, the original car will be on display next to the Santiago do Cacém Municipal Garden. Fabiana Candeias October 4th at 21:30 Fabiana Candeias The stage of the Alvalade Municipal Auditorium welcomes Fabiana Candeias on October 4th at 21:30. Born in Alvalade, Santiago do Cacém, Fabiana was born on July 11, 2007 and showed from an early age that music would always be part of her life. Her talent and passion for music led her to learn to play the accordion at the age of 7, while at the same time exploring another of her passions: ballroom dancing. Fabiana is currently studying piano and singing, continuing to improve her art and preparing herself for the challenges of the music world. In 2022, she took part in the program "The Voice Kids Portugal" (rtp), where, despite not making it past the blind auditions, she never lost her determination. the following year brought her new triumphs: she was the big winner of the program "Estrelas ao Sábado", also on rtp and, more recently, she was distinguished as a Young Revelation in the Fado category at the "Páju Awards" 2024. Now, with "Amor sem sorte", Fabiana takes the first official step in her recording career. the song reflects the artistic maturity of this young singer and promises to win over the public with her sweet and engaging voice, leaving her mark on a theme that, between the influences of Fado and a current pop side, brings to Portuguese music a new irresistible proposal. "Amor sem sorte" marks the beginning of a journey that will certainly be brilliant and full of successes. The craziest obstacle race in the Alentejo is back on October 5, 2025, organized by Os Chaparros btt Team, with the support of Santiago do Cacém City Council. A meeting with writer Mário Augusto, moderated by João Morales, will be held on October 11 at 4pm at the Manuel José "do Tojal" Municipal Library in Vila Nova de Santo André, as part of the Literary Autumn. He was born in March 1963 and has been a journalist since 1986. He is the author and presenter of several film programs and has conducted more than two thousand interviews over the last 30 years. He coordinates and presents the longest-running film magazine on Portuguese television, Janela Indiscreta. He was at the founding of sic and, in 2009, returned to rtp, worked on the radio and is a regular contributor to various newspapers and magazines. He has published the following books: "Nos Bastidores de Hollywood", "Mais Bastidores de Hollywood", "a Sebenta do Tempo", "Caderno Diário da Memória", "Janela Indiscreta", "Como Se Fosse um Romance", "Mandem Saudades" and "Planeta Magalhães - Por Onde Andaste, Fernão?".

The 'C'extas de Cultura' return on October 17th! We'll be joined by Aníbal Zola in trio! At 9:30 p.m. in the Mário Primo Auditorium, we're counting on you! Aníbal Zola presents a concert celebrating 10 years of songs. First as Pato Sentido, then as Aníbal, and finally as Aníbal Zola, the pseudonym that has accompanied him since 2020, there have been many journeys in this story that began in 2015. Aníbal Zola has released four albums and a debut ep with the band Pato Sentido, and in this show he will revisit his entire repertoire. Songs such as "Desencontros", "Canção sem letra", "Baiumbadaiumbé" or "Ela foi no seu caminho" will be performed, the latter of which has recently been included in an international film that will be released in 2025 on Apple TV. "Liberdade mentirosa", "Quem tem boca", "Dona Isabel" or "Valsa de três notas só", from the most recent albums, will also be some of the special moments of this concert. On October 17, at the "C"extas de Cultura", the story will be told of a bassist and singer from Porto who has never been bound by musical styles and who combines his sweet voice with sounds from different latitudes in a journey to the past with an eye to the future.

The Choral Days are one of the annual initiatives promoted by the Harmonia Choir of Santiago do Cacém. They began in 2000 with the aim of implementing a new cycle dedicated to polyphonic choral music, positively reinforcing the cultural dynamics of our city and our municipality. This year they will be held on October 18 and 19 at the Cine Teatro Vitória - Artur de Sousa Pinto, in Ermidas-Sado, and at the Alvalade Municipal Auditorium, respectively. In 2014, the Jornadas were named after José Augusto, the founding chorister of Coral Harmonia, who represented exactly the spirit of these choral exchanges, thus honoring his legacy. Sopros e Guitarradas with Kajó Soares and Gonçalo Cercas On October 24, at 9:30 p.m., at the Cine Teatro Vitória - Artur de Sousa Pinto, in Ermidas-Sado, there will be the show "Sopros e Guitarradas" with Kajó Soares and the participation of Gonçalo Cercas. 👉 Free entry if you pick up a ticket at the António Chainho Municipal Auditorium or at the Ermidas-Sado Parish Council. "Sopros, Fados e Guitarradas" is the first album by musician Kajó Soares, who combines the tradition of fado with the saxophone, both instrumentally and in conjunction with fado voices, in a show of quality, diversity and innovation that will not leave the audience indifferent. In this show, the musician and singer invites two more voices from the new generation of fado singers, thus creating a fado show that draws from the essence of Lisbon song to contemporary Portuguese music.

A meeting with writer Francisco Moita Flores, moderated by João Morales, will be held on October 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Manuel da Fonseca Municipal Library in Santiago do Cacém, as part of the Literary Autumn. Francisco Moita Flores came into our lives through television, when he was still attached to the Polícia Judiciária, but he is well known to Portuguese readers for his novels, such as "Ballet Rose", "a Fúria das Vinhas", "Polícias sem História", "Mataram o Sidónio" or "o Carteirista que Fugiu a Tempo", and television scripts ("a Ferreirinha", "Ballet Rose", "Alves dos Reis", "o Processo dos Távora" and "o Bairro", among others). Two years ago, he published "Um Enfarte no Alto do Parque", an autobiographical narrative about his imminent death, and his most recent novel is entitled "Agora e na Hora da Nossa Sorte".

Santiago do Cacém City Council, through the Museums Education Service, is offering a free basketry workshop at the Traditional Dream Factory (TDF). In this hands-on workshop, we'll explore ancient basketry techniques using natural fibers (raffia) - a timeless art that connects us to nature and tradition. Each participant will create their own piece and take away knowledge, inspiration and the will to continue weaving new creations. 🕙Day and Time: October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. - please be on time at 10:00 a.m. tdf. 👥 Recipients: aged 14 and over 🎟️ Participants: limited to 8 people - you need to book your free ticket to confirm your attendance. 🍂 Literary Fall 📌Meeting with writer Inês Barata Raposo - Living (with) Writing A meeting with writer Inês Barata Raposo, moderated by João Morales, will be held on October 29 at 10 a.m. at the Manuel da Fonseca Secondary School in Santiago do Cacém. In 2017, she was the only one selected in the Literature category of the national Young Creators competition. In the same year, her short story Uma Maçã por Dia was chosen for the anthology A Criança Eterna, published by the Centro de Estudos Mário Cláudio. The following year he won the Branquinho da Fonseca Expresso/Gulbenkian Award in the youth category for his book Coisas que Acontecem. In 2023, he published Efeito Bola de Menta (The Mint Ball Effect) and will be attending "Viver (com) a Escrita" 2025 with the book he published a year ago, Quarto Escuro (Dark Room), with illustrations by Pedro Pousada.
