    “Literary Fall” returns to celebrate literature, reading, and the written word through a diverse program of initiatives aimed at different audiences. Throughout October and November, meetings with writers, presentations, discussions, and other cultural events invite participants to discover new stories and authors, fostering a love of reading and bringing books closer to the community. “Literary Fall” takes place at the municipal libraries and schools within the municipality.     The Book Festival is back!     📖 World Book Day Celebration April 23 marks World Book Day. To celebrate this day, the Santiago do Cacém City Council is joining the grassroots, community-driven movement to promote and facilitate reading, launched by reading mediator Paula Cusati. In partnership with the City Council, acistds will host a Book Picnic in the Municipal Garden, featuring book displays by the Santiago do Cacém School District, which will invite students and teachers to stop and read (on their own), and the Caixa Agrícola Costa Azul Foundation, where a Reading Party will take place at the end of the day.     🍂 Literary Fall 📌Meeting with the writer Lídia Jorge On November 8th, at 4pm, at the Manuel da Fonseca Municipal Library in Santiago do Cacém, there will be a meeting with the writer Lídia Jorge, moderated by João Morales, as part of the Literary Autumn. Born in 1946, she is one of the most important contemporary Portuguese writers. Widely awarded, her most recent novel is "Misericórdia" (which has won several prizes: the Urbano Tavares Rodrigues Novel and Novel Prize (from fenprof), the Pen Clube Português Narrative Prize and the Médicis Estrangeiro Prize). He made his debut in 1980 with "o Dia dos Prodígios" (The Day of the Prodigies), and over the course of his career he has written some of the most important novels in Portuguese literature at the end of the 20th century, such as "a Costa dos Murmúrios" (The Murmuring Coast) or "o Vento Assobiando nas Gruas" (The Wind Whistling in the Caves). His work is completed by books of short stories, essays, a volume of poetry and numerous speeches on citizenship, and he is currently a member of the Council of State.

    🍂 Literary Fall 📌Meeting with writer Inês Barata Raposo - Living (with) Writing A meeting with writer Inês Barata Raposo, moderated by João Morales, will be held on October 29 at 10 a.m. at the Manuel da Fonseca Secondary School in Santiago do Cacém. In 2017, she was the only one selected in the Literature category of the national Young Creators competition. In the same year, her short story Uma Maçã por Dia was chosen for the anthology A Criança Eterna, published by the Centro de Estudos Mário Cláudio. The following year he won the Branquinho da Fonseca Expresso/Gulbenkian Award in the youth category for his book Coisas que Acontecem. In 2023, he published Efeito Bola de Menta (The Mint Ball Effect) and will be attending "Viver (com) a Escrita" 2025 with the book he published a year ago, Quarto Escuro (Dark Room), with illustrations by Pedro Pousada. Francisco Moita Flores came into our lives through television, when he was still attached to the Polícia Judiciária, but he is well known to Portuguese readers for his novels, such as "Ballet Rose", "a Fúria das Vinhas", "Polícias sem História", "Mataram o Sidónio" or "o Carteirista que Fugiu a Tempo", and television scripts ("a Ferreirinha", "Ballet Rose", "Alves dos Reis", "o Processo dos Távora" and "o Bairro", among others). Two years ago, he published "Um Enfarte no Alto do Parque", an autobiographical narrative about his imminent death, and his most recent novel is entitled "Agora e na Hora da Nossa Sorte".

    A meeting with writer Mário Augusto, moderated by João Morales, will be held on October 11 at 4pm at the Manuel José "do Tojal" Municipal Library in Vila Nova de Santo André, as part of the Literary Autumn. He was born in March 1963 and has been a journalist since 1986. He is the author and presenter of several film programs and has conducted more than two thousand interviews over the last 30 years. He coordinates and presents the longest-running film magazine on Portuguese television, Janela Indiscreta. He was at the founding of sic and, in 2009, returned to rtp, worked on the radio and is a regular contributor to various newspapers and magazines. He has published the following books: "Nos Bastidores de Hollywood", "Mais Bastidores de Hollywood", "a Sebenta do Tempo", "Caderno Diário da Memória", "Janela Indiscreta", "Como Se Fosse um Romance", "Mandem Saudades" and "Planeta Magalhães - Por Onde Andaste, Fernão?".
