Next Sunday, June 7, Santa Margarida da Serra will once again host another edition of the Feira da Serra – Despertar d' Verão, an initiative organized by the Despert'Alfazema Association that aims to celebrate the arrival of summer, support local producers and artisans, and strengthen community ties in our village.

A gathering of community, tradition, and celebration of the arrival of summer, in the heart of the Serra de Grândola.

Throughout the day, in addition to crafts, secondhand items, fruits & vegetables, and local products, we will also have activities open to the community:

🌿 10:30 AM – Workshop > Nourish Your Skin, with Linda Barreiro @receitaparatudo

A session on nutrition, natural cosmetics, and self-care habits to nourish the skin from the inside out, featuring practical and simple recipes.

€10 per registration (includes making a natural cosmetic)*

🥁 11:30 AM – Parents & Children Activity > Capoeira Class, with João “Batman”

A class open to children, families, and participants of all ages to discover the joy, musicality, and movement of Capoeira Angola.

🐟 12:00 PM – Traditional Sardine Feast

Open to the community, with food and socializing at Largo da Feira. Prices available on-site.

🪗 2:30 PM – Live Music > Os Moços do Cante

Two young men united by friendship and a love for Alentejo folk singing, helping to keep this tradition alive among new generations.

🪁 Guided Tour of the Lavender Garden

Open to families and visitors interested in exploring the space and the educational project.

    On October 17, at 4:00 p.m., at the Manuel da Fonseca Municipal Library in Santiago do Cacém, the award ceremony for the Manuel da Fonseca Short Story Prize —16th Edition—will be awarded to the work “A Building Where All Stories Fit,” written by Rita Coelho Teixeira Estanqueiro under the pseudonym Margarida Madruga. The Municipality of Santiago do Cacém has been organizing the Manuel da Fonseca Short Story Award since 1996.

    🎭 “Les Beaux Rivages” | Theater in Santiago do Cacém On October 22, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Gato Sa – Teatro de Santo André will present the play “Les Beaux Rivages” at the António Chainho Municipal Auditorium, in Santiago do Cacém, the play “Les Beaux Rivages.” A story about love, memory, old age, and resilience, inviting us to reflect on what remains when time transforms our lives. This initiative, part of the CLDS 5G project, is open to the general public. 👉 Admission is free, subject to ticket reservation, and limited to the venue’s capacity. 👉 Ticket reservations are available from October 7 to 15, in person or through the Social and Health Intervention Service of the Santiago do Cacém City Council, located at Parque Verde da Quinta do Chafariz, by calling 269 829 418 (national landline) or 968 743 919 (national mobile network). 🎭 Come to the theater and discover a story that began where it was supposed to end… at Les Beaux Rivages.

Designed exclusively for auditoriums, “Pouco a Pouco” unfolds in a welcoming setting, where the set design takes on the feel of home and every element on stage contributes to a sense of closeness and shared experience.     Jel – “Quem te Viu e Quem te Vê” Tour in Santiago do Cacém The stage at the António Chainho Municipal Auditorium in Santiago do Cacém will host Jel on November 30 at 9:30 p.m., as part of the “Quem te Viu e Quem te Vê” tour, his latest stand-up comedy show. The first milestone marks Jel’s 30-year career, and the second celebrates the 20th anniversary of his most iconic show, “Vai Tudo Abaixo,” which introduced characters such as Carlinhos, the Gay Macho, Ruce, the drug-addicted entrepreneur, the “Homens da Luta,” the “Revolucionários Burgueses,” the war-themed heavy metal band Kalashnikov, and Wanderley, the Brazilian who hates Portugal, among others—characters who are still often remembered by his fans today. “Quem te viu e quem te vê,” his second stand-up comedy solo show, is a performance that commemorates these two milestones, but not only that—it also evokes the changes that have taken place in the world, the changes that have taken place in Portugal, and the changes that have taken place within Jel himself, who is now a different man from the one who, 20 or 30 years ago, began taking the stage and performing his comedy, always irreverent. In this show, we’ll hear never-before-told stories about the behind-the-scenes of “Vai Tudo Abaixo” and the beginning of his career, but we’ll also learn his opinions and observations on what has changed in the world over these 30 years and, above all, in his 50 years of life.”
